We Believe There Is Room for Everyone

Jesus Christ is Central

Jesus Christ is the center of our faith. Jesus came to save us. Although he was and is fully divine—that is, was and is part of the trinity (the three-person God), he became fully human to be like us and to be with us. He was born and lived among people, grew up in a family, learned a trade, went to temple and learned the Torah, and he taught and performed many healings and other miracles. Though perfectly innocent, he died like a criminal on our behalf. He rose to life again to advocate for all of us forever. Because of Jesus, our connection with God the Creator is unbreakable, and we have the Holy Spirit in our lives to guide us.

Following Jesus’ example, The Well of Dyersburg affirms the dignity and worth of all people and declares discrimination incompatible with Jesus Christ’s gospel of unconditional love.

The Well of Dyersburg declares that everyone who wants to share in the congregation’s ministry and fellowship, worship and sacraments, blessings and responsibilities, is invited to do so.

Jesus did not turn anyone away.  We will not either.

Listening and Learning

The Well of Dyersburg believes in listening to God through group and personal prayer, through group and personal scripture study, and through carefully prepared preaching that helps us understand and apply scripture to our lives.

Questions are welcome. Questions are a valuable part of our spiritual development.

Questions are also a part of our connection with the community. There are many problems in our world. The Well of Dyersburg intends to be open to learning about issues that impact our community and world through questions, study, dialogue, and prayer.

The Well of Dyersburg is a place where faith is acted out in various ways that reflect our belief in the transformative love of God through Jesus Christ and God’s grace, which is unearned mercy.

Jesus calls all Christians everywhere to advocate for the poor and the oppressed. At The Well of Dyersburg we will speak out against hatred, greed, and ignorance, including our own, prayerfully seeking opportunities to grow and serve.

The Well of Dyersburg aims to serve the community by modeling unconditional love and by practicing reconciliation, sharing our belief that to extend hope to all people is to serve God and all God’s people.
